  2. Watched #WakandaForever. Great parts, but it is hard to care about the 6 fights happening at once. Special effects were bumpy, but pretty standard. Wish there were one or two storylines: Dark Knight Rising problem where it is just long and has too many new things. RiRi standout.

  3. Watched The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934). Truly incredible. It nails the comedy moments. All 3 of the leads are bonkers talented, but I totally get why Leslie Howard is held is such high esteem for this role. I watched it because his role was the inspiration for Bruce Wayne/Batman.

  7. Watched Paths of Glory. I had never really understood why Kirk Douglas was venerated, but I totally get it now. He has the power when he needs it (as seen before) but he’s just shockingly good at subtle moments here.

  8. Watched Death Becomes Her. Too silly for my taste, but good social commentary if you liked Clue. Meryl Streep slays unsurprisingly, and Rossellini is superb. Bruce Willis does a strange Moranis impression but it’s not terrible?

  9. Watched The Jerk. Definitely some great moments, but man, I don’t get Steve Martin jokes. Bernadette Peters is just amazing though. It is cool to see ways that Martin influenced people like Carey, Kaufman, etc, but I spent more time thinking about this than laughing.

  10. Watched Black Panther. Still the most compelling villain in any MCU movie. Wright is genuinely funny in a way that only RDJ really can do so it sucks about her covid stuff. I love so much about this and wish it didn’t devolve to standard fight/battle at the end.

  11. Watched Casino. Loved it. The dueling narrators would have been a mess in most directors’ hands but it totally worked. Every character is both so flawed but so investing for me as a viewer. Pesci has had better scenes but his range was amazing here and this is his best film.

  14. Surgery update: wrist is down to a splint instead of a full cast and the mobility change is WILD. Love that I can type again kinda. Pain is down quite a bit, but my shoulder is still on fire every day by 6pm just from walking around without a sling.

  15. Health update: Healing is going well. Tomorrow I get my cast shortened so I can maybe type with both hands again, and Tuesday I get all these staples off my back. Then the fun journey of PT can begin!

    LastWeekTonight You seriously have to consider the City Museum in STL. It’s basically a training ground for kids to get lost in air ducts. It’s amazingly cool and the epitome of an urban architecture museum for non-stuffy people. Cc citymuseum
